The Biology Centre of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic is the largest research organisation in the South-Bohemian region. It is also one of the most influential facilities of the Czech Republic, flourishing from a symbiosis with the University of South Bohemia. Besides residing in a common building complex, the five research institutes of the BC (Entomology, Hydrobiology, Molecular Biology of Plants, Parasitology and Soil Sciences) collaborate on research programs in the fields of biological and agricultural sciences. Students at the University of South Bohemia may take advantage of the courses taught by researchers from the BC and get involved in science in their laboratories.
